There have been many of Raven's babies that have passed over the Rainbow Bridge, they will never be forgotten.
Missing You
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
“It’s me, I haven’t left you, I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here.”
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I’m not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said “It’s me.”
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It’s possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew…
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over… I smile and watch you yawning
and say “Good-night, God bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I’ll rush across to greet you and we’ll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out… then come home to be with me.

Cant foster but still want to help?
We currently have many animals in our care that are either terminally ill, very old or have been so traumatised in their past life that they will stay in permanent foster here at Ravens. You can help by sponsoring a dog or cat monthly? This would help towards their vet treatment and everyday expenses.
If you would like to help please get in touch.

Sadly Maple gained her Angels wings suddenly in October 2021 at her foster home. Maple had a truly fantastic life since arriving under Ravens wing and we thank her foster mum of giving her such a wonderful life with her.
We are all truly heartbroken to say that little Roscoe gained his Angel wings in September 2021vand left for Rainbow Bridge. He has been in and out of the vet but he continued to deteriorate and he collapsed and was rushed to the vets and despite their best efforts he gained his wings.
Fly high little man you are needed over the bridge.
Gentle hugs and love to his foster family who are absolutely devastated, they have nursed him 24/7 since he arrived in our care.

Bliss was 9 years old when we were asked to help her when her owner unfortunately passed away. Her previous owner had Bliss just over a year and its highly likely she was an ex puppy farming dog. She had a list of health problems due to her unfortunate life, she was dependant on alot of medication and had to go regularly to the vets for checks.
For this reason it was decided Bliss would stay in foster where she could be monitored and enjoy her walks in her own dodgy pushchair.
Sadly on 31/05/2018 little Bliss was having greater difficulty moving as struggled so hard. It was decided it was time to let her go to Rainbow Bridge.
She passed in the arms of her devoted foster mum who had cared for her for just shy of 2 years. Fly high Bliss

Hettie arrived in our care a few weeks ago having found herself in the pound. Even though we knew we would not have her for long because of all her illnesses Jenny still offered to give her a loving home for her last few weeks where she would be surrounded with love rather die unloved and alone in the pound. She passed away peacefully in Jennys arms knowing love like she would never have felt before. Thank you Jenny for giving a lifetime of love in a few weeks knowing your heart would be broken 💔
On 30/05/2018 Hettie went to Rainbow Bridge being comforted by her foster momma. Run free Hettie xx

Monty came to Raven's when his owner sadly passed away. It is believed he was in his early teens. He had to have dental work to remove all of his teeth as they wree very rotten and he was in a lot of pain whilst struggling to eat. Monty also had overactive thyroid too and was on daily medication. His foster mum had to hide the tablet in different pieces of food because if he realised it was there he would spit it back out. It seemed to be a daily game for him. Because of his medical issues it was been decided that Monty will do better as a permanent foster.
Monty fulfilled his life in a bright, chirpy old manner and who was very vocal. He is enjoyed life with other foster cats and dogs. He liked to pick the best spot to sleep and after his gums have healed from the dental he could enjoy Dreamies again.
Sadly Mr Monty was sent to Rainbow Bridge on 25/05/2018. Our vets discovered a large mass inside his face which made it difficult for him to breathe. It was inoperable and uncomfortable. He passed quickly and peacefully with his foster mom by his side. RIP Mr Monty.

How do we start this we don't know... We know many of you have followed his story and supported our attempts to find a cure... Little Scamp arrived under our wing many months ago as a beautiful, sweet loving but poorly pup... From day one we and his foster mom Demi knew there was something wrong and wheels were set in motion to help him...... Many months later and numerous vet visits, tests including specialists with costs rolling into thousands and thousands, they could not find a cure for him yet we all hoped that one day this would change... Despite the effort of us all, he was diagnosed with intussusception. His only option was surgery where the risk was high, he would not survive the surgery based on this and after indepth discussions with our vet and his foster mom it was heartbreakingly decided to let him pass peacefully today in the arms he loved those of his foster mom Demi..... We as a rescue have never had to make such a decision and it has hit us all hard and knocked us all down... We felt we could do no more based on what numerous vets had told us yet it doesn't stop the hurt we all feel as a team. Thank each and everyone of you for your support for Scamp and Demi. We are sorry we could do no more.
Scamp crossed over to Rainbow Bridge on 02/03/18

Eddie was around 13 years old, he found himself as a stray in the pound waiting for his 7 days then he would be Put To Sleep. We were asked to help him as he lay cold and petrified.
He did have some medical issues as well as being nearly blind. He did great in foster with other dogs and getting all the love that he deserved at his age, instead of being left on the streets like his last owner did.
He will stayed as a permanent foster with us.
Sadly on the 1st October 2017 Eddie had a seizure and wasn't able to recover from it. Eddie was sent to Rainbow Bridge. RIP Eddie

Mikey was a 10 year old English Bull Terrier. He was surrendered along with his companion Cheryl an 8 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Mikey had a shadow on the front part of his heart, it was confirmed as a growth, but sadly due to the position of it, its not accessible to surgery. He has no muscle and was very underweight. Mikey loved eating his Philadelphia and egg toasted bagels and snoring in his double duvet bed. Mikey stayedas a permanent foster.
Sadly Mikey lost his battle on 04/08/017. Following a further x-ray it revealed that his
tumor had grown and was restricting his airways . He was sent to Rainbow Bridge in the comfort of his foster home along with his foster sister Nellie whose health had also deteriorated.
Have fun skipping over Rainbow Bridge handsome fella.

Poor Nellie came from the pound at the beginning of the year. Her owners knew where she was and refused to collect her. Her gums covered on lumps she fought on like a trooper. She underwent emergency surgery to have an eye removed and turned into a puppy again. Nellie had an enlarged heart and was full of mammary tumors. The lumps in her mouth grew and it became difficult for her to close her mouth. Topped with arthritis and doggy dementia we decided Nellie had fought so many battles it was time to let her rest
Both Nellie and Mikey were sent to Rainbow Bridge together whilst in the comfort of t
heir foster home to ease the stress they felt when going to the vets.

Maisie was a 13 year old English Springer Spaniel, she was a stray and in the pound, her owners knew where she was but they chose to leave her there. This baby girl had suffered many years of neglect, she had a mass on her side, urine infection, terrible coat and very underweight. We couldn’t see her stay in the pound left to die. She underwent surgery to remove numerous tumours and she recovered well.
As it is feared that these tumours would return she stayed under Raven's wing as a permanent foster where she continued to be spoilt by her foster mom and take on the role of support foster sister for all of the fosters who join her.
As predicted Maisie's cancer returned, our tired sweet old girl had already been through the mill. She was also double incontinent. After several vet visits and medication trials it was decided to let our sweet girl gain her angel wings. On 09/06/2017 Maisie crossed over to Rainbow Bridge in the arms of her foster mum. Fly high Maisie xxx

Jack was an 12 year old English Pointer. Jack came under Raven's care when his owner was facing a difficult time and could not physically or financially keep him any longer. Jack had rotting teeth which had caused a large abscess in his face. He had several large lumps and bumps from old age and had arthritis. Jacks rotten teeth were removed along with abscess to stop infection. He was also receiving medication to help with his joints.
Due to Jacks age, physical and emotional pain he stayed with his foster family, where he got to sleep his day away on the settee and in their beds at night. He enjoyed life once again and his tail never stopped wagging. He had other dogs to snuggle with and even happy to cuddle close to the cats.
Sadly after discovering that Jack was dropping in weight and was severely anaemic and tumour was identified in his liver/spleen area. Jack was not fit enough to survive an operation and there was a high chance that the tumour could rupture. So the difficult decision was made to let Jack go over to Rainbow Bridge on 28/04/17. Good night Sausage x

Gertie was a 16 year old Staffie X Collie, she was sitting bewildered in the pound, she was due to be Pot To Sleep any day. We felt this was no place for this little old lady and had to take her under our wing. She arrived skinny with a lump on her nipple. After being in foster she was been such an angel. She tested every bed to find one that suited her old bones. She was really good with the other dogs and cats and especially loves her little human friend. Gertie’s mobility was limited and it take her a while to get moving but on a walk she’s quite happy to stroll through the grass. We were told she was deaf, her foster family believed this is only selective deafness as she could hear a biscuit packet being opened in another room and she power walked over to see if it is something for her.
Gertie hadan admirer, from another permanent foster Bertie. He clearly had fallen in love with her, even though she ignored him.
On 24th March it was decided that the best thing for Gertie was to let her go. He was surrounded by his Foster Family who loved her dearly. She will not be forgotten.

Hetty and Oscar were a bonded pair of Westie's who were at the ages of 16 and 17. They were looking for their retirement home. Age is just a number for these two golden oldies who were young at heart, they loved their daily walks. They were used for breeding numerous times, lived in a kennel in the garden. They were in both in very bad condition.
Hetty was an affectionate girl who loved her kisses and cuddles. Oscar was more reserved and had to learn what cuddles are about.
On 10th January it was decided that the best thing for Hetty and Oscar was to let him go due to many illnesses, at a age of 17 & 18. They were both surrounded by their Foster Family who loved them dearly. They will not be forgotten.

Bertie came into Ravens at 9 years old, he came from the pound after serving his standard 7 days, as he was not claimed by his owners. Upon arrival he proved to be a feisty old guy, despite still recovering from being neutered, having 7 teeth removed and a long transport journey to us. As the months went on it was apparent that Bertie’s personality was one of a grumpy old man, preferring his own way and having no time to be a people pleaser. He has little patience with adult dogs and will be ready for a scrap whenever the mood takes him. Bertie however has an extreme fondness for puppies, taking them under his wing and patrolling the garden side by side, he is happy to share his bed and even when the smallest of puppies took a chew stick off him, Bertie didn’t mind.
In October 2015 his foster mum noticed a change in his behaviour, Bertie changed from being perfectly housetrained to having accidents at night. His personality changed from the resident grump to a happy bouncy old man. He was quickly taken to the vets or a check up, every feasible test was done to try an explain his odd behaviour. Unfortunately it has been discovered that Bertie has canine dementia, a brain tumour and his eyesight is deteriorating further with the cataracts we already knew of.
Both Ravens, the vets and his foster mum discussed all options for Bertie. For now we feel Bertie is still able to enjoy walks, his foods, treats and life in general, so he will stay a permanent foster until the day comes it is in his best interests to be sent to Rainbow Bridge.
On 17th September it was decided that the best thing for Bertie was to let him go. He was surrounded by his Foster Family who loved him dearly. He will not be forgotten.

Jeeves found himself in need of rescue help when his owner became ill and unable to care for Jeeves anymore. Jeeves was 14 years old, he was the perfect gentleman, his owner was very sad to see him go. When Jeeves came into Ravens his foster Mom noticed how much water he drank, he was taken to the vets where blood work confirmed he had the beginning of kidney failure. He began treatment to manage it and the decision was made (to the delight of his foster) that Jeeves would stay in foster for however long he had left. He was been in foster since November 2015 and was doing very well, stealing the hearts of all that meet him.
On 6th August Jeeves passed over the rainbow bridge, Jeeves had 8 great months with us, full of love, he will not been forgotten.

We were asked to help Quest and his Brother Quincy, when they arrived they were quite thin and needed our help.
Despite having a perky attitude and huge appetite he continued to lose weight. He was seriously thin, after many extensive tests, he had raised white blood cells which meant something was seriously wrong inside and the only option was to open him up to investigate. He wouldn’t have survived operation or any recovery time so kindest thing was to let him go peacefully. RIP little man.

Rose came to our attention as a stray abandoned at the pound with a large mammary tumour. Aware of what that probably meant, we had to save her so she could spend her final weeks being loved and not in a kennel.
Once in our care it was confirmed she had cancer and it had spread throughout her body, she was given less then a month to live. Rose lively had the home she should of had all that time ago, she wasn’t going without a fight. She was entered into 2 dog shows and even won best in show. One day Rose got up went out for the morning visiting doggie friends, had a chip shop dinner then a check up at the vets, where they said we was doing well. That night Rose lay down next to her Foster Mom to sleep and made her journey to the bridge. Rose had 11 weeks with us, 11 good weeks full of love, she will not been forgotten.

Cecil was just 5 weeks old when he was found abandoned scavenging in bins. He was out in foster and mothered by resident Maine Coon Pixie. Within days little feisty Cecil became withdrawn and he was rushed to the vets it was discovered that he had a blockage in his gut. He had a massive operation to remove it and we were unsure whether he would survive. But Cecil proved he had fighting spirit and pulled through. He stated in the vets on 24 hour care and the day before he was due to come home he took a turn for the worse, it was then discovered that his gut had telescoped on itself and he needed a further operation to correct it. Although Cecil again survived that operation a few days later he crossed to Rainbow Bridge. His tired little body could not cope with the huge ordeal it had been through. RIP little lion. Sleep tight xx
